More Than Anything Else
Skylar M. Language Arts 1-2

More than anything else, I want to be a teacher. I want to help the kids less fortunate than myself. To help someone makes you feel bigger about yourself. There are many, many kids out there, even adults, that can’t read. My goal is to teach not just ordinary privileged kids, but also to teach the under-privileged. The ones without a home, or without parents.

I’m 11 years old, and all my years I keep changing what I want to be when I grow-up, starting with a lawyer. I decided that I don’t want to be a lawyer anymore. I decided this because I don’t what to fight justice. My mom said I have an ace sense in fashion and I know what looks exceptional together. If you really think about it, which one is more important? That’s how I lead into my 3rd discussion of what I should be when i'm older, a doctor! I choose this as another option because a doctor saves peoples lives from dying. My mother said that being a doctor benefits others, but a teacher helps others learn. I didn’t necessarily like any of my teachers in elementary school, but in 6th grade my core teachers were Mrs. Hall-Kissinger, and Mrs. Jordan. My elective teachers were Mr. (my personal favorite!) They all told me they love to teach, and that it’s a pleasure to help others/kids in learning.

Whenever I hear talk on the news about homeless kids, or poor kids I think to myself we have it good, and my life and majority of my friends lives are simple. Either we pay to take the bus, or our parents drive us. Sometimes we walk, if we don’t live really far away from the school. Poor kids sometimes don’t even have the opportunity to learn. The fact that we do is lucky, and amazing!! I value and respect all of my belongings and care for a of them. I respect everything I have because there are alternatives in the world that having to value, and if I were to act like a snob, then other kids would be thinking what a spoiled brat!!

That’s why I have chosen to be a teacher, other than any of those other other professions. I believe that being a teacher will make a big difference in my pupil’s lives, and they can hopefully apply the skills I taught them to get a job.
